Capabilities
Every process AMT runs in Clifton Park, from the first prototype to production quantities.
Wire EDMFive Fanuc Robocut Wire EDMs, accuracy down to 2 microns (.00008 in) and radii as small as .001 in. One of the largest Wire EDM job shops in the Northeastern United States.
5-axis CNC millingFour Haas vertical machining centers and a Mazak VCU-500A 5X for simultaneous 5-axis work. Parts up to 50 × 26 × 25 in and 4,000 lbs.
CNC turningMazak, Haas and Monarch turning centers for production turned parts, and two Harrison Alpha CNC lathes for work up to 18.5 in swing and 60 in long.
Precision grindingCylindrical, surface, centerless and Blanchard grinding for when accuracy has to be under .0002 in and finish matters in hardened steels and alloys.
Small hole EDM drillingHoles from .012 to .118 in, up to 100 times the diameter deep, on a Yougar EDM drill with a 4th axis.
CMM inspectionThe cornerstone of our inspection department is a Zeiss Contura G2 scanning CMM with Calypso software, backed by a full set of gauges and an optical comparator.
Energy & power generationPrototypes, fixtures and test equipment for the steam turbine, gas turbine, wind turbine, jet engine and fuel cell industries, since 1983.
Medical machiningMost of our production Wire EDM work serves medical imaging: parts used to calibrate MRI machines all over the world, held to ±.0001 in.
Defense prototypesAMT is a go-to supplier for military defense prototypes, often in hardened steel or exotic alloys, often needing Wire EDM, multi-axis milling, turning and grinding on a single part.
Automotive & motorsportOur automotive work is in the high performance aftermarket, including production mechanical diodes for automatic transmissions that handle 2,000 horsepower.
SSA 1000 for schoolsA tabletop tester that breaks student-built bridges, towers and tensile samples at up to 1,000 lbs and graphs the stress and strain. Designed and built by AMT, with over 3,000 sold.
